The Herndon Telework Center was opened in 1998 at the Town of Herndon Library, but was relocated to an office building at its current site in 2005.  It is one of the three (www.gmutelework.com) telework centers  sponsored by the US General Services Administration (GSA), and operated by George Mason University's Mason Enterprise Center at the School of Public Policy (the other two being in Manassas and Fairfax, VA).  

These centers provide close-to-home alternative workspaces and help reduce travel, increase productivity, and improve worker morale.
